The COOPERATION research team gathered on 30 June to review progress, align on the next steps to take, and celebrate achievements made.

The last 12 months have been productive. Before starting the discussion, team members showed on a map all the places they have been to. Together, they have covered a huge area, that ranges from London (UK) to the West, to Essaouira (Morocco) down South, up to Istanbul (Turkey) to the East. They have visited 15 archives and attended 8 conferences.

Next, the team held a long deep dive session discussing the first draft of Ozan Ozavci’s agenda-setting article on the foundation of the different sanitary councils. After this stimulating discussion, we took a step back by reviewing our performance in the past weeks and making new plans for the next trimester. As most team members will head to new archives and present their findings at various academic conferences in the months to follow, we have a lot to look forward to.

Before leaving our team this summer as he pursues new scholarly challenges in Belgium, Gert Huskens concluded the day by introducing us to the potential of network analysis for our research.

The tropical warm day was concluded with a boat trip over the Utrecht canals, during which we raised our glass to celebrate our achievements.
